Choosing the best SEO companies to represent your business and website is important because the top SEO companies will help you feature in the initial pages of the search engine. This will eventually help you in promoting your business. Here are some tips for choosing the right one.

Meeting The SEO Company Team

While choosing an SEO company, it is better to talk to their team on phone or meet up with them rather than use e-mail to communicate. This will help you in having a much detailed communication. Develop a good rapport with them. Find out if they adhere to best practices and whether they have updated themselves with the recent trends of search engines. The news they convey should be timely and sensible. Top SEO companies use engines like Pros to comb link information, site queries and analytics data to find reasons for low rankings. Obtain multiple SEO vendor quotes to check for price discrepancies.

Review and Reporting Services
The top SEO companies offer review of your on-page optimization. They check your keyword density, meta tags, title tags and on page formulas to enable your site to be constructed in a manner that will be easier for search engines to read. The best SEO companies also offer complete weekly or monthly reports to show you their activities for you during that period. These reports help you monitor and manage the activities of the SEO company and ensure that they are justifying their fee.

Contract Lock-In Period
The top SEO companies never lock in their clients into long term contracts because they are confident that they can retain clients by just securing them good positions on the search engine list. An SEO company with a long contract lock in period is inadvisable because you will not be able to change your company quickly if its performance is poor.

Testimonials and Case Studies
The top SEO companies would be able to offer you at least 5-10 clients as case studies for review. You can call them up and get their testimonials about the service of the SEO company you have approached to check whether it is one of the best SEO companies around.

Consult Your Own Social Network
Your friends, fellow businessmen and reliable members of genuine SEO blogs and forums can greatly assist you in your search for the best SEO ompany. The opinions of SEO savvy people can provide you with valuable insight on the best SEO companies and the not so good ones.

The best SEO companies are not necessarily the ones on the top of a search engine list. Top SEO companies are commonly referrals. They utilize their time and effort to improve search engine rankings of clients rather than their own. You can choose an SEO company outside your area unless a lot of on site meetings are needed with the SEO team.

The best SEO companies save your time and money and help you make your link building campaign a success. The top SEO companies can indeed make a positive difference to the product or service you are selling.

Marketing Your Web Site.
You would not put a bill board in the desert, so why are you hiding your web site?

Too many companies spend too much money developing a really nice web site that no one will ever see. Before starting any web site design or re-design make sure you’ve allocated at least half of the budget to getting the site optimized in the search engines.

For those selling a service.
There are a few steps you need to take. The first step is to create meta-tags with a description of your site and keywords that are relevant to the content on your site. The keywords and content should stress the service you provide, why a potential customer should use your company for this service and how to contact you to buy this service. A meta tag generator will help you to create the properly formatted code for you web site based on keywords you select. These might be found on google or msn by searching with the keywords “meta tag generator”.
You’ll then need to submit the site to the major search engines like Google and MSN. For Yahoo! you’ve to pay a yearly fee of $299 to get listed. There are dozens of search engine submission services that’ll perform these services for you at a very reasonable price.
When you’ve finished your submissions you can anticipate an increase in traffic but it’s going to take any time. Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months isn’t out of the ordinary. To increase traffic more swiftly you will need to use a service like overture or Google adwords. These services grant you to place small ads for your site whenever someone does a web search that includes your the keywords you’ve purchased. You probably only offer your service to a limited area so you will want to make sure you include this area (City, state, town or region) in your keywords. That way you will not be paying for clicks and visitors to your site when you do business in California and the visitor is from Texas.

For those selling a product.
The process is essentially the same. The difference is you’re selling to a much more massive audience. Sounds good right? More potential customers equal more sales. Not necessarily. You’ve also got a lot more competition and much more pressure on your prices. I’d recommend starting out selling regionally. Your own backyard doesn’t have to be the starting point but it may help with shipping costs. When you’ve got that system ironed out you can expand geographically and still control your web advertising costs by including the locations in your keywords searches.

Choosing your primary keywords may be one of the most difficult parts of good SEO. It is also, however, one of the most important. When you begin optimizing your website for search engines, you will need to choose one primary keyword or keyword phrase, and four to six secondary keywords.

These keywords are going to be essential later on. You will not just use them for a single page on your website. Instead, they should feature prominently on each page of your website, in any website-related blogs, in any website-related newsletters, and in any website-related press releases. SEO goes beyond just a website.

With that in mind, look for keywords that will stand the test of time. Avoid keywords that are too general; you want targeted keywords for targeted traffic. But don’t swerve to the opposite extreme; a keyword is no good if it’s something so specific that no one would ever search for it.

Your secondary keywords can be a little more flexible than your primary keyword or keyword phrase. Pick the words people are most likely to use when searching for your product or information. You should ideally have between four and six secondary keywords, but if necessary, pick as many as ten. Don’t go above ten, as too many keywords end up diluting the importance of any of your keywords.

Look for a blend of general and specific secondary keywords. Better yet, make one or two of them keyphrases, such as “handcrafted knit scarves” that blend the specifics of the three words together with the generalness of each individual word.

Once you have your keywords, don’t limit them to just your website. Use your primary keyword phrase every time you link to your website, in blogs, in newsletters, and in RSS feeds. Don’t overlook relevant forum signatures! The right keywords, used in the right way, can be invaluable.
